The Opportunity
A global markets platform is seeking a senior Director level Emerging Markets Trader to build and expand its LATAM Local Markets and Credit trading capability in the Americas.
This is a revenue generating role combining trading execution, disciplined risk management and franchise development across LATAM FX, local rates and EM credit markets.
The mandate is clear: extend the firm’s EM trading expertise into selected LATAM markets and develop a scalable institutional trading platform in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute trading strategies across LATAM local FX, rates and credit markets.
- Provide institutional liquidity and manage risk within approved parameters.
- Price and trade FX, credit instruments, interest rate derivatives and collateralised financing transactions.
- Contribute meaningfully to desk P&L through disciplined risk positioning.
- Support development of electronic trading capabilities and automated execution.
- Partner closely with Sales to build institutional client relationships in the Americas.
- Identify product expansion opportunities within approved governance frameworks.
Profile Sought:
- 7–15+ years of experience in FIC trading
- Strong track record of alpha generation in EM risk markets
- Deep familiarity with LATAM local markets liquidity dynamics
- Experience trading across FX, local rates and EM credit products
- Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory requirements
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build platform revenue
Required Registrations:
FINRA Series 7, 63 and 24; NFA registration as applicable.
